Downtown Discovery – No School Camp – Friday, April 3rd
Join us for a full day of exploration, movement, and hands-on discovery in the heart of Iowa City! Our Downtown Discovery Camp is designed for curious campers who love being active, solving challenges, and learning through real-world experiences.
Throughout the day, campers will take part in downtown scavenger hunts and mini duck hunts, working in small groups to explore landmarks, businesses, and hidden details around downtown Iowa City. We’ll also spend time in a nearby downtown park, playing games and enjoying outdoor movement breaks to balance the day and keep energy high.
After lunch, campers will head to Yotopia for a special behind-the-scenes afternoon visit, where they’ll learn how things work beyond the counter and get a closer look at one of downtown’s favorite spots. This experience encourages curiosity, respectful community engagement, and asking great questions.
Lunch will be provided and will include pizza from Scouts Honor, giving campers a chance to refuel before the afternoon activities.
Pickup (9am) and drop-off (4pm) will take place at either MERGE Iowa City or Scouts Honor, depending on weather and the day’s planned route. Specific locations, timing details, and reminders will be shared with families the week prior to camp. Wraparound care for an additional 30 minutes before and after is available for $20 per student.
This one-day camp blends exploration, teamwork, outdoor play, and community connection—an ideal way for campers to experience downtown Iowa City in a fun, engaging, and GoldCap-style way.

-- Apr 24th -- 9am - 4pm Explore downtown Iowa City through a creative Photo Quest, an ICPL scavenger hunt, and a sweet behind-the-scenes visit to Sweets & Treats. Campers will enjoy pizza from Scouts Honor and spend the day discovering downtown landmarks, library spaces, and nearby green areas through hands-on challenges and guided exploration.
