Downtown Discovery: Photo Quest & Sweet Stops
Spend the day exploring downtown Iowa City through creativity, movement, and hands-on community experiences! Downtown Discovery: Photo Quest & Sweet Stops invites campers to see the city in new ways while building observation skills, teamwork, and curiosity.
In the morning, campers will take part in a Downtown Photo Quest, completing creative visual challenges that encourage them to notice details, patterns, landmarks, and textures throughout downtown Iowa City. Campers will also participate in an ICPL scavenger hunt at Iowa City Public Library, exploring the library while solving clues and working collaboratively through guided challenges.
We’ll break for lunch with pizza from Scouts Honor, giving campers time to recharge before the afternoon experience.
In the afternoon, campers will enjoy a curated, behind-the-scenes visit to Sweets & Treats, led by the owner. This interactive experience will give campers insight into running a local business, creativity behind the scenes, and a sweet, hands-on component designed just for GoldCap.
Throughout the day, campers will explore downtown Iowa City and nearby green spaces, balancing structured activities with movement, games, and exploration.
Pickup and drop-off will take place at either MERGE Iowa City or Scouts Honor, depending on weather and the day’s planned route. Specific locations, timing details, and reminders will be shared with families the week prior to camp.
This one-day camp blends creativity, exploration, and community connection—perfect for campers who love discovering downtown and learning from the people and places that make Iowa City special.
